Frank DeCaro and Jim Colucci

“Like I’m the only person who ever mixed a margarita in a sailor’s mouth!”

Blanche Devereaux’s memorable defense of her cocktail-making habits is fitting on Margarita Monday at Sancho’s Restaurant and Cantina, at 411 E. Palm Canyon Drive, in Palm Springs, at the Caliente Tropics Hotel. From 6 to 9 p.m., Monday, July 27, Sancho’s will host “The Golden Girls Night: The Gay Episodes,” an evening celebrating the sitcom that was years ahead of its time in tackling LGBTQ+ issues. Presented by The Filmmakers’ Gallery, the evening includes screenings of some of those landmark episodes, along with a conversation with Frank DeCaro, author of Drag: Combing Through the Big Wigs of Show Business, and Jim Colucci, one of the country’s foremost Golden Girlshistorians.

Admission is free, but reserving a table is encouraged, especially if you’re planning to pair Sophia’s one-liners with Sancho’s Monday margarita specials featuring $10 and $8 house margaritas.
